Name: Matthew
Age: 31
Species: Bestat
Appearance: He stands at six foot one and he weighs one hundred and eighty pounds. His hair is chin length most of the time and is almost always down. Matthew doesn't enjoy the tedious act of shaving, so he normally has a thick layer of stubble on his face. His facial expressions are usually set in a light scowl, one of irritation or just complete indifference. On occasion he'll smile. When he's in his cat form he's a large, orange tabby cat.
Personality: At a glance one wouldn't find Matthew to be an approachable guy; he doesn't look like the friendly type and that's the truth. Most of the time he's a very secluded creature, going from work to home to work without much going on in between. He will occasionally go out and have drinks, but it's hardly ever in the company of others. There's a certain level of privacy that comes with being a bestat (it's not like he chose the life he lives, but he has to work with the cards he was dealt) and that normally doesn't involve a lot of people. He owns a few cats that stay with him in his apartment, and they provide him company on many levels that a human wouldn't understand.
Matthew loves to eat meat. Loves it; he's also big on napping in the middle of the day when he's off or in front of his fireplace-- his hair pet. Things that he's fond of in his feline forms tend to cross over into every day life, he's just glad he never attempts to give himself a bath.
Strengths: In addition to enhanced strength and agility, Matthew possesses superhumanly acute senses. He also has a healing factor that's above human levels.
Weaknesses: It takes him a while to recoup after he comes out of his feral state; he stays in the state of mind for hours after he's come out of the form he took. The moon gives him troubles, more often than not he'll shift into his feline form on a full moon without mind's consent.
Personal History: Matthew was always aware that there was something inside of him that wasn't quite right with the rest of the human race. When he was a boy he would run around like normal boys do, getting cuts and bruises. The thing that made him different was that his cuts and bruises wouldn't be there when he went to look at them later. He never called off from school, because Matthew was rarely ill. There was a night in his mid-teens when he learned exactly how different he was. There was a full moon and suddenly his mind wasn't his own; he was covered in fur and he had a tail. Needless to say, it wasn't puberty. There was no way to keep it from his parents, because the full moon didn't always fall on a weekend-- if they looked in on him in the middle of the night and saw that he wasn't in his room he could've been grounded (every teenagers worse nightmare). His mom was also allergic to cats, which wasn't going to help when the bed was covered in cat fur.
When he told them, they thought he was joking at first. Matthew had to prove it to them by demanding they step in on him in the middle of the night on the next full moon, and when they did it just for kicks he was sitting on the bed, staring at them with his big cat eyes. The next morning his mother told him that he couldn't have a cat in the house, and to get rid of it before she got rid of it for him. So, after endless attempts at explaining (and a threatened grounding) Matthew gave up, because they'd figure it out one way or another. The night it happened was the night Matthew found himself growing to the point that the bed creaked under his weight. This wasn't a housecat, that was for sure, and when his mother walked in to ask if he'd like something to eat before bed she found her son transformed into a... very large cat. A Tiger, to be precise, and there was much slamming of his door, screaming and running away. Things were very awkward between Matthew and his parents for awhile after that, but it was amazing how supportive a couple could be about their son's... gift.
He learned to live with it and after awhile he found he could change at will, outside of the full moon which seemed to bring it out in all it's glory, but as long as it was in the evening and not in the middle of the day when he had school and eventually work he thought he would be fine. The only drawback was the feral state of mind he was left in, and that was a severe drawback on his social life. His parents could understand and forgive him for his behavior, but Matthew couldn't handle a social life the way he did before the whole incident happened.
He found himself out of college before long and looking for work that would be able to accommodate him on his condition, which was harder to find than one would imagine. He worked several odd jobs and got a lead on one that looked very promising, but unfortunately there was a huge dent in the road. The whole zombie thing wasn't going to help his career progress, and the world seemed to turn itself upside down so he decided there might have been bigger and more important things to worry about at that time.
